Glossary

The terms that come up on certificates, protocol pages and product pages, in plain English.

HPLC

High-performance liquid chromatography separates sample components. Area purity is the target peak’s share of integrated detector response under the stated method, not the peptide mass fraction of a vial. Read measured content separately.

COA

Certificate of analysis. A document recording results for a named sample. Identify the issuer, vial size, lot or assigned reference, method and test dates. Pure North publishes independent CPT reports for named presentations; manufacturer QC is separate. See lab results.

Lot / batch

A manufacturing identifier. Match the compound, vial size and lot with the report. A laboratory-assigned reference may differ from a printed lot; ask for the documented connection rather than assuming they are interchangeable.

Related substances

Compounds related to the intended analyte, such as certain synthesis by-products or degradation products. The published CPT reports do not provide a related-substances breakdown.

Endotoxin check

An assay for bacterial endotoxin, distinct from HPLC area purity. The published Canada Peptide Testing reports do not include this test.

Karl Fischer water content

A titration method for measuring water. Water content is not reported in the published CPT set.

Mass spectrometry

A method measuring mass-to-charge ratios that can contribute to identity characterization. The published CPT reports do not include mass-spectrometry identity testing.

Lyophilized

Freeze-dried. The form every peptide here ships in, because the dry powder is stable at ambient temperature over normal domestic transit times.

Reconstitution

Dissolving a lyophilized peptide in a diluent, usually bacteriostatic water, to a known concentration. The calculator does the arithmetic for any vial size.

Bacteriostatic water

Sterile water with 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a preservative, which lets a reconstituted vial be drawn from more than once. Sterile water without preservative is for single use.

Cold chain

Temperature control through storage and transit. Follow the material-specific handling requirements for your research; do not infer storage stability from an HPLC purity figure.

RUO

Research use only. The designation under which every product here is sold: a laboratory reference standard, not a drug, and not approved by Health Canada or the FDA.

Retain sample

Material held for possible later examination. A certificate alone does not establish that a retain exists or how long it is kept.

GLP-1

Glucagon-like peptide-1, and its receptor: the target of semaglutide, tirzepatide and retatrutide in metabolic research.

Tri-agonist

A compound that activates three receptors. Retatrutide is a GLP-1 / GIP / glucagon tri-agonist.

Secretagogue

A compound that causes another substance to be secreted. Ipamorelin is a growth-hormone secretagogue; CJC-1295 is a growth-hormone-releasing-hormone analog. The two are often studied together.

U-100 syringe

An insulin syringe graduated in 100 units per millilitre. Protocol pages and the calculator convert a dose into units on this scale for the vial size we ship.
